Sound Insulation Testing

Sound insulation testing involves quantifying how much sound energy gets transmitted from one room to another adjoining room.

The adjoining room can be separated by a partition wall next to the room or can be above/below the room separated by a floor. This can be carried out on new buildings and existing buildings.

Technical Guidance Document Part E of the building regulations 2014, requires all
residential developments to undertake pre-completion sound insulation testing on a representative sample of rooms where a common wall or floor is shared in the development.
