Planning & Noise
Impact Assessment
Modern, sustainable planning policies require evaluating the effect of noise from a proposed development as part of the planning process. Aeon Environmental can carry out Noise Impact Assessments for proposed developments, as well as Noise Chapters for an Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR). Our staff have qualifications and experience in acoustics, as well as professional membership with the Institute of Acoustics. Our work can include:
- Baseline noise monitoring of the existing sound climate.
- Derivation of applicable noise limits based on relevant guidance.
- Noise predictions and modelling using calculations & software.
- An objective assessment of the likely noise impacts arising.
- Proposals for mitigation, where required.
When planning permission has been granted for a development, it may be accompanied by conditions relating to noise; including set limits for noise emissions. We can assist with measurements of noise levels to demonstrate compliance to the regulator, or assist with developing suitable mitigation measures to help meet the set limits.
